The forecasts describe the probabilities of
different weather conditions for the location and time period of
interest, enabling businesses to greatly
improve their management of weather risks.
For example, for the weather derivatives and
energy industries, we provide long-range forecasts of the number of
heating degree days at specific locations during the winter
season. This information can then be used to determine the fair price
of a weather derivative contract or to plan the use of energy
resources over the period of the forecast.
