Monthly forecasts
In 2003 Weather Informatics launched
site-specific monthly-mean temperature forecasts to meet the needs of
businesses involved in weather derivatives and energy trading. The
forecast package consists of:
Probablistic forecasts of the
average daily mean temperature over a calendar month
Forecasts
also given in Heating Degree Days (HDDs) or Cumulative Average
Temperature (CAT)
Forecasts at station locations:
London-Heathrow, Paris-Orly, Berlin-Tempelhof, Essen and Amsterdam-Schiphol
First forecast issued 10 days before the start of the forecast month
Updated forecasts issued daily until the end of the forecast month
A breakdown of the monthly-mean temperature into
daily values is available on request. We are also able to provide
monthly forecasts for other stations worldwide.
An example of a
monthly forecast, here for Heathrow February 2003. The forecasts (red=forecast mean +/- 1 standard deviation)
issued on all days from January 22 are shown.
February was
consistently correctly forecast to be cold (climatology=black, observed=blue).
